The Realities of Covid

9/20/21

This past week in ISM I narrowed in on the impact Covid had on the medical field. I learned that dementia patients were more susceptible to Covid not because they were typically of an older age, but because of their reliance on other people to take care of them which I found to be a very interesting take. It was sad for me to learn about the data of Covid-related deaths in nursing homes, but this is an unfortunate reality in today's world. I discovered that this area is a key interest of mine, especially in today's climate, so I hope to be able to build a project that can minimize both Covid and neurological disorders simultaneously. On a happier note, I finalized my resume. I tweaked some stuff to make it more professional and concise, and I believe it represents who I am as a person well. I also reached out to some neurologists on LinkedIn. This was a little bit of a tough process for me as I didn’t know who I should reach out to and how to go about it. I am also yet to hear back from any of them, so this coming week I am going to try emailing and calling doctors instead. I can’t wait to step foot in a real neurology setting, and start interviewing professionals!
