Spring Break

3/14/22

This week in ISM was Spring Break! As I did not go anywhere, I took some time out of my week of relaxation to work on my final product. In terms of actual work, I shadowed my mother while she was doing an autism evaluation in order to experience firsthand what it is like to diagnose and assess a child with autism. It was such a valuable experience that I am so lucky to have partaken in, as it provided me with a multitude of knowledge. Not only did it allow me to see how parents of children with autism actually interact with their child, but it further stressed to me their specific concerns. I will continue to shadow my mother to better understand the wants and needs of parents and children of whom autism is a serious reality in their lives. In terms of this coming week, I have scheduled a mentor meeting with Dr. Covert to continue to help me break down the research I am finding, and help transform it into an effective piece of literature for parents to utilize. Spring Break was a time of well needed rest for me, but it also granted me the ability to finally shadow my mother to dive deeper into the world of autism!
