Questions on Questions

11/1/21

This week in ISM I interviewed Dr. Robertson, a Baylor Scott & White Sports Concussion program doctor. Through him, I learned of various joint injection procedures such as peripheral joint injections using a fluoroscope and spinal column injections. I also discovered more testing systems such as the BRAC (behavior regulation assessment) which monitors if patients are doing their assigned concussion recovery activities appropriately, and the clinical profile screen which looks at symptoms associated with concussions. I was successful this week in that I explored other specialties integrated with neurology by meeting with Dr. Robertson, a non-surgical sports medicine physician and concussion specialist, and that I also furthered my connections at the Sports Concussion Program. Now that the date is inching closer for picking a mentor, I need to narrow down who I want to be mine. Unfortunately Dr. Robertson is moving to Georgia, so I can’t pick him, which is very upsetting as I really liked him. This leaves me with only one option at the moment as to who can be my mentor so in these coming weeks, I need to focus on finding more interview opportunities so that I can truly know who would be the best fit as my mentor.
